UND Standardization: The Holding Pattern

Here’s a great addition to any instrument pilot’s IFR training library. UND Flight Instructor, Anthony Bottini, teaches the instrument student about the IFR Holding Pattern as outlined in the UND Standardization Manual. This episode is similar to the “Precision Approaches” episode in that it teaches UND IFR Standardization and not necessarily UND airplane-specific standardization. So, just realize that specific aircraft operating procedures may vary and that students should reference the UND Standardization manual for the aircraft that they will be flying during the holding maneuver. This episode will take a pilot through set-up, visualization and execution of a proper holding pattern so that the IFR rated pilot will always be confident while performing any type of holding pattern that ATC throws at them. Stay tuned for further IFR standardization videos from the UND AeroCast and if any of you viewers out there have any questions about the episode, feel free to ask them below. Thanks to Rob and Matt for the great video sign-off and to Jeff for the amazing contrast in flying photos - he sent in some photos that went from desert flying, to snowy mountain flying, and then back to more desert flying. Thanks Jeff!
